Warrior Mage

Excerpt

Until the soundless scream of a dying mage interrupts, Warrior Mage Jinn Sahja's first journey mage circuit is, well, boring.

So she rushes to—umm, not the rescue, since her Talent in empathy informs her the scream was the mage's last—but at least to see what happened.

She doesn't find what she expects, and she certainly doesn't handle her investigation with the finesse she would have imagined.

Worse yet, she has to report the murder to the Clavemaster whose most fervent wish is to see her ousted from the Warrior Mages.

The clavemaster is just as uncharming as she expects, and, of course, her being a mere journey mage, he gives the case to someone with more experience.

Which would be fine if she weren't the only person who had heard the scream . . . or seen the body.

And would have been a relief, if the killer didn't seem to be following her home.
